Portfolio – Art and Sustainability: A Dialogue Between Generations for the Future of the Planet

Art has the power to transform the world, create connections, and inspire new visions. At Centro Studi Casnati, the Art, Sustainability, and Territory project becomes a laboratory for educational innovation, blending creativity and environmental awareness in a journey that embraces the community and involves schools of different levels.

From Casnati to Preschool: Peer-to-Peer Education for Sustainability

One of the most innovative aspects of the project is the peer-to-peer educational exchange between students of Casnati’s Art High School, guided by Ms. Ilaria Cuccagna, and the children of the Preschool in Albese con Cassano.

In an educational context committed to ensuring quality education for all, in line with Goal 4 of the 2030 Agenda, the Art High School students become knowledge promoters and awareness facilitators, translating the language of art into a learning experience accessible even to the youngest children. Through installations, creative workshops, and interactive activities, preschoolers embark on a journey of discovery that stimulates curiosity, critical thinking, and environmental awareness.

But sustainability education also passes through the very materials used to create. In line with Goal 12, which promotes responsible production and consumption models, the project encourages students to reflect on the conscious use of resources, experimenting with recycled materials and low-impact artistic techniques. Each artwork thus becomes a visual manifesto of a new relationship between humanity and nature, where creativity intertwines with ethical and sustainable choices.

Art as a Driver of Change for the Community

The peer-to-peer experience is not limited to the exchange between students of different ages but extends to the broader community, transforming artworks and installations into tools for raising awareness. At a time when ecosystem protection is a global priority, the project also aligns with Goal 15, which emphasizes the need to protect and restore natural environments. Artistic creations thus become a means of narrating the deep connection between culture and biodiversity, fostering renewed awareness of the value of local natural heritage.

Casnati for ESD: Educational Innovation and Active Citizenship

Within the framework of Casnati for ESD, this experience demonstrates how sustainability education can be participatory, creative, and intergenerational. Through art, students take on an active role in building a fairer and more responsible future, becoming key players in a change that extends beyond the school walls.

Because the future of sustainability is built together with ideas, art, and education.
